My Opinions and Recommendations
I was introduced to Beth Hart when she opened for Edwin McCain at the 9:30 Club in Washington, DC. She has an amazing voice that you can feel the emotion in. Her voice reminds me of the great Janis Joplin. And she actually played Janis in a off-Broadway producton about the singer's life called "Love, Janis." She has a talented band that can play some unexpected instruments. Her CD, Screamin' for My Supper, had one big hit, L.A. Song, which is great. But my favorites on the CD are Mama and Delicious Surprise.
The CD Leave the Light On is wonderful. Beth sings with such passion and emotion that you can't help but feel what she is feeling. The lyrics are especially great for anyone struggling with a relationship. My absolute favorite on the album is I'll Stay With You. It brings me to tears when I hear it. I also really like Lay Your Hands On Me. But trust me... this album is all wonderful and I suggest you go out and buy it today!
If you like Beth and want to hear more artists like her, try the old 80s album, She's So Unusual from Cyndi Lauper. Cyndi has the same kind of voice that you can hear attitude in. For something more modern, try Alanis Morisette's Jagged Little Pill, or Shelby Lynne's I Am Shelby Lynne.
