My Opinions and Recommendations
I love the Dixie Chicks. They were one of the first groups to really get me into country music. If you don't like country, you should try them out anyways. Their songs have attitude and lots of great messages. My favorites are There's Your Trouble and Let 'Er Rip off of Wide Open Spaces and Goodbye, Earl and Sin Wagon off of Fly. They also have a really good version of Can't Hurry Love on the "Runaway Bride" Soundtrack. I saw them live at the George Strait Chevy Truck Country Music Festival. They were definitely the highlight of the show.
The group's newest CD Home continues to show their incredible talent. It has a bluegrass sound, which I enjoy because I grew up listening to my dad's bluegrass music. My favorite songs are Truth No. 2 and White Trash Wedding. Both are upbeat and very easy to sing to.
If you like the Dixie Chicks, you might want to listen to SheDaisy - The Whole Shebang. If you like the message and the pop, without the country twang, you should check out Lava Baby - In the Right Place... They have the girl group appeal with a slightly more rock band approach.
